Te Whakatipu Rangatira

Growing leaders
for isolated communities throughout Aotearoa

Manawa Rahi is a charitable trust that partners with isolated and underserved communities across Aotearoa to support rangatahi into education pathways they would otherwise not have access to.

Beginning in Te Urewera, communities told us that distance, social isolation, and limited local options prevent many of their young people from accessing education taken for granted elsewhere.

Through authentic relationships and genuine partnership, we support communities to identify rangatahi and their whānau, resource education opportunities, and walk alongside young people throughout their secondary education journey and beyond.

Manawa Rahi

From the kupu whakarite ‘Honu manawa rahi’.

A turtle with a big heart (breath): said of a person who has the endurance and perseveres like a turtle that journeys the ocean.

Determined, steadfast, stout-hearted, patient, unwavering and resolute.

This is our pūmanawa rangatira, leadership framework.

Potential exists everywhere.

Opportunity does not.

With your support, communities are creating change.
